Janet Birch Medium: Handwoven Rugs I create colorful art rugs by combining my original abstract, geometric designs with traditional hand weaving techniques. I weave layers of yarn colors to create rich texture and subtle depth within the rugs. My rugs are designed for use both on the floor and the wall. They are double faced, with two "front" sides, each with the colors reversed. Top quality wool and linen materials are used to ensure heirloom quality rugs. Before becoming an artist, I worked as a designer in the textile industry, creating award winning fabrics and color lines for window coverings, shades & blinds. I have been exploring the beauty of Crested Butte since first visiting in the 1970's. I felt an immediate connection to this place and to the mountains. A native of Wisconsin, I continued to vacation in Crested Butte until I was lucky enough to start living here in 1998. Currently I live and work in Crested Butte and Madison, Wisconsin.
