Brooks Powell Growing up in the Smoky Mountains, Brooks Powell developed an abiding love for the flora and fauna of the mountain environment. Brooks received a BFA from Washburn University and a BFA interior Design from Kansas University. A move to Colorado in 1998 inspired the commitment to serious painting and to share the experience of the glorious landscapes of Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Arizona. Painting primarily landscapes in oil, her work is represented in numerous private collections. Brooks recent shows include a one woman exhibition of her paintings at the Gunnison Center for the Arts in 2004. She has exhibited paintings at The Western Colorado Art Center in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and in Arts for the Parks and the Mountain Oyster Club in 2005. A show of new paintings COLORADO LANDSCAPES will be on exhibit at the Gunnison Center for the Arts June 7 through July 4, 2006. The opening reception is June 8, 7-8pm. A member of TPAPS, Plein Air New Mexico and Artists of the West Elks.
